My God Moment

I believe that we are truly blessed to have "God Moments" in our lives.   Some are fortunate to have them more often than others.  Big moments, little moments -- none the less they are gifts from God.

Here's a really special moment, I want to share.

I had been having a recurring dream of a phone ringing.  I'd wake up thinking my cell phone or home phone was ringing --- it wasn't. Back to sleep and it would happen again.

I happened to have an appt. with my therapist a few days into this dream sequence.  I asked him if he could decipher.  He kinda laughed at me and said that really wasn't his area of expertise.   But suggested that someone was trying to reach me. Thanks, Jim!?!?!

Wednesday morning I get up early, got my cup of coffee and sat down at the kitchen table to do my devotions.   After a bit of prayer, I opened a book that I have been reading, "Just Enough Light for the Step I'm On (Stormie Omartian) - GREAT book!

I open the book to Chapter 13.  The title of the Chapter??  . . . .

"Expecting A Call?"

God has a great purpose for each one of us.  There is a call from God on your life and mine.  The question is will we listen to find out what it is?

OH MY GOSH!!!  God is most certainly active and present in my life!  I am blessed.

The chapter goes on to talk about God's plan for my life and how I need to be prepared for it.  Open heart, mind and soul.   Surrender "MY" hopes and dreams to Him.

One of the scriptures that I am holding close from that morning's devotion is from Romans 11:29, 'the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable".

You have no idea how much I needed to hear this.  Often times I think that 'my time' may have passed me by -- that I didn't hear God's call.

My walk with Him has not always been steady.  I've been distracted, upset with God, too busy, etc.

By the absolute Grace of God -- even if I didn't hear the first time (or 2nd or 3rd -- slow learner/hearer), He will give me another chance (and another, and another and another -- if I need it)   Glory be!

Now a couple of cool things have happened since that Wednesday morning.

I've been able to share this story with my kids.  Is there anything greater than sharing the love of God with your kids?   My most favorite was sharing with Evie and Lo.   We were sitting on my front porch (favorite place) and the look in Lo's eyes when I told her what had happened was something that I will not forget as long as I live.   The excitement, the wonder ... amazing!  She asked a couple of questions -- and ended the conversation with, "Grammie, I hope that happens to me one day".

"Oh my sweet girl, it will, it truly will".

I had devotion at a bible study I'm in the other night and shared my God moment.  One of the gals in the study pointed out that my God moment had turned into so much more than a moment.  Funny how God does that, huh?

Be blessed, my dear friends!

Love you!

Soccer Tournament

Our weekend was filled with soccer!

Lo's team won their Division during the Spring Season.  The incredibly cool thing about the Pirates winning the U-14 Division is that they are a U-13 team!   Lo's coach and trainer believe this is the first time that a U-13 team won the U-14 Division.  Pretty cool!  Lo's got a great team of girls, an awesome trainer and a great coach.  She will be moving with the entire team into a Club League next year.  Very exciting for our girl!

Lo is a Defender.  She's quick, she's agile and she's smooth.   She's also got some fancy footwork in stop and turning the ball.  It's poetry in motion --as they say!  Can you tell that I'm a proud Grammie?

Anyway, Lo's team won both of their games this weekend.  Both games were awesome.  The first game was tied 3-3 and with about 20 seconds to go -- GOAL!!!  It was sweet!

The Final was against another team from Orange.  Lo had played with most of the girls on the opposing team at one time or another.

A Trip to Pennsylvania

At the end of April I visited my dear, dear friends Helen, Bevo and their kids.  The purpose of my visit was to watch their sweet Frannie perform in her school musical.  Frannie had solo and duet parts in "Schoolhouse Rock".   Super cute musical.  I was still singing "The Great American Melting Pot" and "I'm just a Bill" for weeks afterwards.

Helen and Bevo live in a very different world that we do in So Cal.  I've said a million times -- that if I could just get one set of kids to move -- I'd be gone in an instant!  I absolutely love where they live.  A small town (Elysburg) in Central PA.  Absolutely charming.

As always, the Forti family made me feel at home from the  minute I got out of the car.   I love that about my friends!  For me, going to their home is what I think it would feel like if I went home to my Mom's.  It's comfortable, it's warm, it's loving and it's crazy!  It's really just perfect!

So much went on that weekend. . . Soccer game, visit to the mennonite market, took a cruise around their 'hood, evening play, dinner at Matucci's after the play (yum!!), mass on Sunday am, social at Holy Rosary for the First Communion families, Vinny and I went to Walmart for flowers, picked up Zia and went to the Sunday afternoon performance, went for a short Sunday drive (boy, did I love that), a sunday afternoon ice cream cone, finally back to the house and we ALL collapsed!

Here are some photos from my trip. . .

Franny has the voice of an angel.  Franny Forti -- doesn't that sound like a celeb name?

Handsome Vinny.  Vin handled the sound for the musical.
He had quite an assortment of young ladies hanging around him.
